No more sexy please! Newly-weds Vidya, Kareena turn down bold film offer

Bollywood stars Vidya Balan and Kareena Kapoor, the new brides have not only attracted their fans but have become the choice for many filmmakers, who want to cast them in their films. And, this time it's filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia who had approached both of them but got a 'no' from the high-profile actors only since they are now married!

Tigmanshu Dhulia had approached Kareena Kapoor and Vidya Balan for his ambitious biopic, Begum Samru. But owing to the sexual content in the film, Kareena and Vidya turned down his offer.

The period film is based on the life of Begum Samru, who started her career as a nautch girl in 18th century India and eventually became the ruler of Sardhana, a principality near Meerut. Later on she played a key role in the political power struggle in 18th and 19th century India.

Tigmanshu Dhulia told a leading daily, "The film is set in the 1840s and will be based on a Hindi novel. I wrote the script a few years ago. I am looking to rope in an international studio. That will ensure I don't face any censor issues in terms of satellite rights. That being said, I did approach Kareena and Vidya but they weren't comfortable with the script."

Furthermore, the filmmaker reportedly has remained reluctant to tone down the script of his film stating if this would take away the authenticity.

According to the report, the story is a different take on Umrao Jaan. The lead actress will be a begum, not a nautch girl. The begum woos four men before falling in love with one of them and that's where the trouble begins.
