'Oh My God' director's next is a rom-com

Kunal Kohli, producer of an upcoming rom-com with Ayushmann Khurrana is miffed with the actor for ditching him because his needs weren’t fulfilled. The barely one-film-old ‘Vicky Donor’ actor has apparently gotten too big for his boots. He decided to walk out of the project because he wanted to work alongside a bigger actress and had even made this a condition before taking on the project. However, Kunal gave him names of not-so-famous actresses, which didn’t apparently please Ayushmann.

Kunal feels the actor has become a star and even told him as much but Ayushmann has another story. The actor says he agreed to do the film provided he gets to work with an A list actress because he felt pairing with a big name in such films is very important. He had recently worked with another newcomer in Rohan Sippy’s project. Kunal had initially agreed to meet these demands but during a recent meeting for the film, he kept taking names of lesser known actresses which upset the actor and he decided to quit. Kunal, who is pretty upset with Ayushmann’s behaviour, reveals that the one-film-old actor needs to be a little realistic about his choices and demands. Now that Ayushmann is out and the budget of the film isn’t working, Kunal has decided to shelve the project altogether.

I'm deadlier than dengue, if I bite Cong, BJP will face problems: Kejriwal

NEW DELHI: Activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal Saturday again trained his guns on the Congress and the BJP by terming himself deadlier than dengue.

"I am deadlier than dengue, if I will bite the Congress and the BJP, they would face problems," Kejriwal said here, a day after accusing industrialists and politicians of stashing money in Swiss banks.

Kejriwal has targeted Mukesh and Anil Ambani, Congress MP Annu Tandon, the Dabur family and Naresh Goyal, founder of Jet Airways, alleging that they held accounts in HSBC Bank's Geneva branch. The bank and all of those targeted by Kejriwal have denied any wrongdoing.

These accounts are fully complain with all regulations and are disclosed in their appropriate jurisdictions and in India. “The continued tirade of baseless allegations being made by IAC against us appears to be instigated by vested interests,” an RIL statement said. In a separate statement, the Anil Ambani-headed Reliance Group categorically denied all allegations made by Kejriwal against him. “Mr Anil D Ambani had no bank accounts with HSBC in Geneva,” it said. The Reliance Group statement said it is “regrettable that such baseless allegations are being made by IAC at the behest of vested interests”.

Jab Tak Hai Jaan in Jalandhar

On 7th of November, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma flew down to the hometown of late Yash Chopra, city of Jalandhar, for the promotion of their upcoming film Jab Tak Hai Jaan. All three of them greeted the media as well as their fans with a typically ‘Sasriyakal’. The people out there were very thrilled by their presence. There was a tremendous crowd gathered just to get the glimpse of the stars.

Says an insider, “It was considered as one of the most awaited city visit, where the JTHJ team had finally arrived. Yashji had always planned to visit the city for the film promotions. But unfortunately he could not be a part of it, his wonderful city Jalandhar, from where he did his schooling and spent his college days.”

SRK, Katrina and Anushka spoke their heart out to the audience, about their film, about their characters, and of course the most important reason for being there! Yashji! Some of the fun media interaction moments included SRK enacting his trademark style step, SRK saying the ‘JTHJ’ poem, SRK getting gifted army uniform by an RJ.

After the fun filled media interaction, the team headed towards Doabba, a college from where Yashji did his studies. There were about 5000 students who had gathered to see the team. It was indeed a great evening!

Music Review: 'Khiladi 786'

Bollywood's 'khiladi' Akshay Kumar is back in action to pack a punch with his new outing 'Khiladi 786'. The film's soundtrack has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya. It has seven original tracks and five remixes.

First up on the playlist is "Lonely", whose initial tune sounds similar to Alexandra Stan's hit number "Mr.Saxobeat". The song has rap by Yo Yo Honey and, on the whole, the number has good dancing beats. There are good vocal inputs by Himesh Reshammiya and Hamsika Iyer. The song is addictive, thanks to Himesh's nasal touch as he croons "Oh bawariya" at regular intervals during the song. The track has a remixed version too, but that isn't too great.

Ayushmann Khurrana in his own words: Why I quit Kunal Kohli’s film!

This morning a leading daily carried the statement of a miffed Kunal Kohli who thought that Ayushmann Khurrana was getting too big for his newbie boots. Since we knew Ayushmann in his humble RJ days back in Delhi, we found it a little hard to believe. So we thought we had to hear his version of the story. He was obviously stressed about the incident and couldn’t respond to us for a long while. Finally, after a few hours, he clarified.

Ayushmann said, “I am nobody to comment on who’s an A-lister and who’s not. We live in times where either a superstar or a super script works. Since I am not the former, I would rather go with the latter. It’s unfair how things have been blown out of proportion. Mr Kunal Kohli is my senior and no matter what I may or may not become tomorrow, the equation will always remain the same. He is and will remain my senior and I will continue to respect him. However, at the same time, I don’t think it’s wrong to have aspirations. It would have been a privilege to work with him, but somehow things didn’t work out mainly due to my pre-occupation during the allotted dates for Rohan sippy’s Nautanki Saala‘s promotions. I will be happy to work with Kunal in the future.”

We wonder how Ayushmann got himself into this awkward situation. But we like that he is still as humble as he was, before Vicky Donor and fame happened to him!

Movie Review: Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana

It has the rhythm of a slow food feast – it is languid, growing on the senses as it unfolds as gently as a seven-course meal. Barring one or two avoidable false strokes, especially in the climactic moments, the film remains firmly rooted in its simple, uncluttered essence.

What emerges is as wholesome as it is laced with warm-hearted humour. The film won’t have you rolling over in the aisles, but the hint of a smile that it will bring to your lips will linger all the way through the two-hour-plus film, if not beyond.

John Abraham turns stunt director for a scene in Race 2!

Bollywood hunk John Abraham, who is known for his fabulous physique, recently got a chance to go behind the camera for a stunt sequence in Abbas-Mustan's next Race 2 after an accident took place on the sets. With this the Jism fame actor proved that he is a man of many colours.

Source from the sets says, "John is performing some out-of-the-box stunts in the film. During an important stunt sequence, he took over the reins to execute a sequence all by himself. Incidentally, the decision was taken after a stuntman was injured during the shoot."

Another source associated with the film states, "John said he was aware of the risks that people take while executing such daredevil stunts and he would never want anyone to go to extreme lengths for a shot.

For the uninitiated, an accident had taken place on the sets at Filmistan Studios, where a stuntman was injured. John was very concerned about everyone around him. He intervened to make sure that the stuntmen used safety measures and he ended up directing the whole scene."

Producer Ramesh Taurani says, "It was a cage fight sequence and is one of the biggest highlights of the film. In fact, even John ended up with a minor injury but we shot the scene till 2 am and completed it."

Race 2 also stars Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez as parallel leads.

After 'SOS', people will write roles for me: Vindu

"Ajay Devgn is a friend of mine and we know each other since we were children. I would always tell him, 'Ajay when is my movie (happening)?'. And he would say, 'I'll give you a movie that deserves Vindu.' And he really did that. It was last Diwali when he said that you are doing a movie for me and he made me do this," the 48-year-old said in an interview.

"Now I realise it is the best movie I could have ever got and after this movie, I am sure that people will write roles and they will say this is for Vindu. Such a lovely role he has given me," he added.

Releasing on November 13, the Ashwni Dhir directed film will see Vindu sharing screen space with Ajay, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha.

Vindu claims that the movie is the best Diwali gift to the audience.

"The movie is a mix of emotions, action, comedy, romance, and tears - everything that works in a packet of two hours and 10 minutes that's what you get on Diwali. I don't think there could be a better bomb on Diwali than 'SOS'," he said.

Talking about the film, Vindu said, "We are two brothers Tony and Tito, our elder brother is Billu paji, who is Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) and our younger sister is Preet (Sonakshi)."

"Ajay is Jassi Randhava, while we are the Sandhus. When you see the movie you'll realise how confident and happy we were to release the movie on Diwali as a gift. Just leave your worries at home and go enjoy 'SOS'," he added.

Film Industry not anybody's private property:SRK, Ajay Devgan

"The film industry is a free market and no body has a monopoly on it", Shahrukh lashed  out at Ajay as their fight on the release of their movies intensified.

Shahrukh's 'Jab Tak Hain Jaan' and Ajay's 'Son of Sardar' are hitting the theatres on 13th November, Diwali.

At the time of 'Ek Tha Tiger's' release, the single screen theatres had an agreement with YRF's.  According to that deal 'JTHJ' will be shown on the single screen theatres which means Ajay Devgan starrer may have to suffer.

Ajay moved the CCI, claiming that Yash Raj Films was using its dominant position to ask exhibitors to dedicate more screens to Jab Tak Hai Jaan instead of his movie Son of Sardaar.

Ajay Devgan Films Pvt Ltd is shocked in this case, as the complaint was dismissed by CCI.

Ajay Devgan's wife Kajol got caught in the crossfire as she has not only had a good working relation with YRF, but is also a good friend of Shah Rukh Khan.

It is being said that Kajol will not be called at JTHJ's premiere on 12th November.

I’m not an underdog of the industry: Emraan Hashmi

Actor Emraan Hashmi, who is gearing up for his next release Dibakar Banerjee’s “Shanghai”, says that he is tired of being tagged as an underdog in Bollywood. After delivering three back-to-back hits with “Once Upon a Time in Mumbai”, “Murder 2″ and “The Dirty Picture”, Hashmi has become one of the most bankable actors of the industry but he no longer wants to be judged for his roles.

“I have never given the right to industry to rate me or criticise me. Their criticism never bothered me. I am not an underdog. I have been fairly well rated by the audience. “People in Bollywood criticised me when I started the trend of erotica with ‘Murder’. I just did my own thing without paying attention to them. I am happy today to witness such content have become the integral part of mainstream cinema,” Hashmi told PTI. The 33-year-actor’s latest film “Jannat 2″ has not set the cash registers ringing but the actor says he would stick to his kind of cinema and not imitate the A-listers of the industry. “I always wanted to do something different. I never followed the path which Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan have taken. If I would have done that then I would have lost my originality. I would prefer to fail rather than be successful by doing their kind of films,” he said.

Call me king, not King of Romance, says SRK

He rose to superstardom with romantic hits like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai but Shah Rukh Khan says he hates being called just the King of Romance.

Starting his Bollywood journey with 1992 film Deewana, Shah Rukh went on to play anti-hero successfully in films like Darr, Baazigar and Anjaam.

But, it was 1995 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, that cemented his image as an romantic hero. SRK, who recently turned 47, believes there is more to him as an actor.

"I can proclaim that girls love me in romantic roles. With all due respect, I would rather be called a 'King' than the 'King of Romance'. I am an actor. I have done 75 films and have spent 21 years in the industry and would like to believe that I have done it differently," Shah Rukh told PTI.

"I had hated to be (called) just the 'King of Romance'. I enjoyed doing Don. I was completely in love with how I approached my role in My Name Is Khan. I would like to be remembered as an actor who is trying hard in a commercial set-up," he said.

Barack Obama wins US polls, says best yet to come

Washington: After winning the hard fought 2012 US Presidential Election, a triumphant Barack Obama on Wednesday declared that the best is yet to come.

Obama, who addressed his joyful supporters amidst huge cheering at McCormick Place convention centre in Chicago's lakefront, thanked "every American" for casting their ballot and helping in making a decision that matters. Beginning his re-election speech with a call to action, Obama, however, told Americans that their citizenship doesn't end with their vote.

After defeating Republican rival Mitt Romney to get a second term in the White House, the victorious Obama said: "We know in our hearts that for the United States of America, the best is yet to come."

"I want to thank every American who participated in this election," Obama told the crowd.

"Whether you voted for the very first time or waited in line for a very, very long time - by the way we have to fix that - whether you pounded the pavement... or whether you held an Obama sign or a Romney sign you made a difference," he said.

The nation, he told the gathering, "moves forward because of you... because you reaffirmed the spirit that has triumphed over war, over depression".

The President, who rolled to a second term with more than 300 electoral votes, also gracefully congratulated Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan on a "hard fought campaign".

Punjab can supply electricity to its Pak namesake by 2013

Lahore: India's Punjab can supply electricity to the Pakistan province of Punjab by 2013 as it will have surplus power by then, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said on Tuesday.

"By 2013, the Indian Punjab will have surplus electricity and it will be more than willing to export it to Pakistan. A major portion of electricity is being produced through coal while more than 500 MW is being generated from renewable sources like biomass, wheat-straw and rice-straw," said Badal, who is currently on a visit to Lahore.

Interacting with businessmen at the Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Badal said another 500 MW of electricity generated by solar power would be added to India's national grid in the next five years.

He also endorsed suggestions from Pakistani businessmen for setting up consulates in the Indian city of Amritsar and Lahore, the capital of Pakistani Punjab.

Both cities immediately require consulates of the two countries to process visa applications because it is cumbersome for residents of both sides of Punjab to travel to their national capitals to apply for visas, he said.

Indian monsoons may fail due to climate change

Global warming caused by extensive human interference in the environment will likely result in failure of Indian monsoon in the next 200 years threatening food supplies, a new study has warned.

The study suggests that increased human activity like burning of fossil fuels and related shifts in tropical air flows, which has lead to drastic climate change, could result in collapse of monsoon rains about every fifth year between 2150 and 2200.

India being an agrarian society entirely depends on the monsoons, which lasts from June to September. India last faced a severe widespread drought in 2009 and had to import sugar, pushing global prices to a 30-year high.

Shahid Kapoor signs 5-crore endorsement deal for a deodorant brand!
