MMS row: Completely appalling and disgraceful, says Mona Singh

Mumbai: Mona Singh, who rose to popularity after her impressive debut in TV serial ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’, is mighty peeved with a “morphed” MMS of hers.

Mona, who has never had a whiff of a scandal in her entire career, says, “At this point of time all I can say is that this is a morphed video."

The actress has lodged a complaint with the cyber crime branch of Mumbai Police after the video clip in question went viral on March 28. Mona was shooting for ‘Kya Hua Tera Vada’, when she was informed about the MMS. She left the studios immediately and headed to file the complaint.

"I've taken the relevant action and investigation is on," she says.

Mona Singh said in a statement: "It is just completely appalling and disgraceful that someone on the web can go to the extent of morphing my face onto someone else's body to create a sensational video! We have filed a severe complaint at the Cyber Crime Cell and are hoping to find the culprit. People need to realise that before being actors we're respectable women and have family and friends who we're answerable to and who get affected by negativity that is thrown in our direction."

Rangrezz: Movie Review

This is a film that guarantees family time entertainment for the Indian audience. Based on friendship and traditional family values, the film tries toplease the average Indian film-goer with these aspects in the story and succeedsin it to a measurable effect. The script of the film is written well keeping the
Indian audience in mind and Priyadarshan does justice to it with his usual
style: a combination of comedy and emotions. The dramatic curve of the friendship, trust and betrayal accounts for moderate entertainment and it is told on screen with craft & a nice cinematography from Santosh Sivan. The challenge that comes along with the treatment of such themes is that one has to be quite rational about its scope. The problem this time is the ambition of the film, which is a little higher and tries to contextualize it in modern times with a message which strongly interferes with the film in the end. If only the makers wouldn’t have set out to send the message through the film with a dramatic turn in the end it would have turned out to be a better one.Rajpal Yadav’s performance is nice and much of the comedy comes through within the name. The music is not excellent but does justice to the narration and the subject. The songs are picturized nicely and are enjoyable keeping in sync with traditional entertainment. Jackyy Bhagnani gives an acceptable performance but the other actors steal the show with their performance. This  tale intricately-woven around the family reminds us of the kind of the films Priyardarshan makes in the South, and a familiarity with the same accounts for the entertainment in the film.
Verdict: A moderately entertaining masala film skillfully based on traditional Indian values.

Aatma: Movie Review

The film starts off with a promise and a distinct flavor but becomesredundant after a period of time. Aatma is a predictable horror film with an
effort to interlace the story with an emotional bond between a mother and adaughter. The premise of the film is predictable yet effective which skilfully sets the tone of the film.
Starting with a video footage, depicting the eccentric love a father has for a
daughter, the narration is simple and in the flavor of the usual horror films
which is quite acceptable to the audience provided it works well. The effort to
express a tale which has its roots in the emotional relationship of a family is
quite visible and could have been utilized with much better craft and scope. But
over the course of time, the film loses its potential and grows into becoming
another horror tale of a regular kind. Classical approach stands for the wisdom
that whenever a story is told through the lens of human relationships,
irrespective of the genre it is told in, it has to be based properly on the
organic evolution of the story and the major aspects of the film needs to be
explained properly. This is a major flaw, where a lot of plot points are left
unexplained which seriously interferes with the gradual narration.

Sona Spa: Movie Review

“Hum neend ka business karte hai, Hum neend ka business karte hai” you are treated to this brilliant background score as soon as you enter the theater. After watching a trailer that was nothing short of being eerie and lewd, you find yourself fervently hoping Sona Spa doesn’t turn out to be such a disaster. However, your worst fears come true minutes into the film which is nothing close to the psychological-thriller it marketed itself to be.

At Sona Spa, a client is allotted a sleep worker who sleeps for them, so while you continue with your routine, your sleep worker sleeps for you and you feel rejuvenated? Sounds very idyllic right for all those who think sleeping is a waste of one’s precious time… Not really, there’s a catch – apart from sleeping for you, the sleep-worker can also see your dreams!

Priyanka`s `Babli Badmaash` gets U/A rating: Balaji Motion Pic

Mumbai:Censor board has changed `A` certification it assigned earlier to actress Priyanka Chopra`s maiden item song `Babli Badmaash` to `U/A`.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had reportedly given the song `A` certificate after receiving complaint from Delhi-based women activists against "commodification" of female body in such performances but they decided to change it to U/A following a review.

"On Monday, CBFC put `Babli Badmaash` through the Revising Committee, which cleared the track with a `U/A` certificate", said a statement issued by Balaji Motion Pictures here today.

Balaji Motion Pictures CEO Tanuj Garg said in the statement that, "After submitting `Babli Badmaash` for certification, we were informed that it would get an `A` because it was an item track. We informed the CBFC that the industry was not aware of such a rule and that this would warrant a larger discussion between both parties."

He said the CBFC was informed that there was no such blanket directive and that songs are certified according to their content.

The dance number `Babli Badmaash` was initially granted an `A` certificate on the ground that it was an `item song`.

Sequel to 'No Smoking' on John Abraham's mind

In 2007 when Anurag Kashyap’s neo noir ‘No Smoking’ hit the theatres, the film was panned for being “way ahead of its time”. The psychological thriller had elements of surrealism and a dark and unusual storyline which had then left viewers and critics baffled. The film starred John Abraham as the protagonist. However, if reports are to be believed, we might soon be able to see a sequel to ‘No Smoking’.

Director Anurag Kashyap is all eager to take the story forward from where ‘No Smoking’ had ended. From what he had tweeted some time back, Kashyap wants to utilize the sequel to tie the loose ends that the first film had left open. “I really want to do a sequel to ‘No Smoking’, and with John Abraham and he does too…” tweeted Kashyap.

When contacted, John Abraham too expressed his desire to be a part of the sequel to ‘No Smoking’. Says the actor, “I would like to do ‘No Smoking 2’, but Anurag is busy with ‘Bombay Velvet’ at the moment. There is nothing concrete as of now but we would love to take the story forward.”

Now that both the actor and the director are hugely interested in ‘No Smoking 2’, seems like it’s just a matter of time before another concept film comes to cinema lovers!

The Attacks of 26/11 Movie Review: Brutality at the worst

This day still gives our souls a shiver as we recall the gruesome, compassionless, callous killings in Mumbai, carried out by a few ruthless Pakistani beasts. The deadly attack left an indelible scar on each and every Indian. Five years gone, yet those deadly, nightmarish, blood-curdling, horrific scenes of the ill-fated night remains fresh in our minds.

It's certainly not a child's play for any filmmaker to portray such a mayhem and barbaric act onscreen. Especially, someone like Ram Gopal Varma, who has repeatedly tortured the audience with films like Department, Aag and Bhoot Returns. But this time, the maverick is back with a big bang with his latest release The Attacks Of 26/11. Varma re-tells the bloodbath, torrential shower of bullets and bombs that rained down on Mumbai on Nov 26, 2008, through his latest flick. The Attacks of 26/11 features Nana Patekar, debutant Sanjeev Jaiswal and Atul Kulkarni in the leads. The first hour of the film graphically recreates the violence that Ajmal Kasab and his gang unleashed in various strategic centres of Mumbai, where maximum impact was ensured for their mayhem. Right from the very beginning, where Kasab and his team hijack an Indian trawler, then entering Mumbai and finally carrying out their brutal operation by slaughtering the innocents at Leopold Cafe, CST station and Taj Hotel. There is extensive show of barbarous game-plan of mayhem, massive destruction, merciless killings, agony and violence of the concerned night in the film. The second half of the movie takes the show forward as in how Kasab gets captured and how he finally spills the beans behind the attack, during an interrogation. He reveals his intention to butcher as many innocents as possible, showing no mercy on women or children. They were on a mission for widespread terror, panic and agitation all over Mumbai. Varma doesn't spare us the details of the demoniacal attack, when the violent deviants killed men women children in luxury hotels and public places.

I, Me Aur Main is flaky but one-time watch

I, ME AUR MAIN has several worthy of note sequences. Instances: John's I-me-myself attitude comes across very well at the start itself, besides his relationship with Chitrangda, which goes from bad to worse with the passage of time. In addition, the segments featuring John and Mini Mathur echo a certain reality. You can't help but laud the freshness Kapil brings on the table in those sequences. I'd like to make a special note of the finale, when John wants to be by her side, but Chitrangda's words of wisdom sound so valid.

Nonetheless, there're tracks that fizzle faster than expected. John's relationship with Raima, his boss, gets repetitive after a point. Also, John's quest to introduce a new singer [Sheena Shahabadi] -- the entire journey from scratch to star -- is humdrum. Even the sequences with Prachi are inconsistent. As and when Kapil decides to take the unconventional route with her character [Prachi fleetingly talking about her previous relationships… also the sequence when John decides to get close to her, after she has had a couple of drinks], those moments compliment the spirit of the enterprise. Conversely, there're portions that seem far from satisfying or enjoyable.
