Student Of The Year
What it is - The film is good but it will surely not
turn as Karan Johar - 'Director of the year'. It is one more typical
Kjo film with common factors like big set, homosexuality, love triangle,
stylish, high class school, funny professor and ample of Music. The
film starts on a quite suspense mode but ends up predictable.
Story - The story is how Two Best Friends part away, first because of the girl in their life and then because of the passion to get the School's prestigious Trophy for Student of The Year.
Rohan Nanda (Varun Dhavan) is full on egostick (Bade Baap ki bigadi hui Aulaad) meets Abhimanyu Singh (Bina Maa-Baap ki achhi Aulaad) in School. Both becomes best friends after the few rivalries in starting. Shanaya Singhaniya (Alia Bhatt) is the Stylish and prettiest girl of the school.
Rohan and Shanaya are dating each other but Rohan is a playboy and feels little confuse over his love. Abhimanyu helps Shanaya for Rohan to realize his love but in this match making process, Abhimanyu and Shanaya falls for each other. And here starts the rivalries of two best friends. Rohan challenges Abhimanyu to win the Trophy of Student of the Year annouced by School's Dean Yogendra Vashishth (Rishi Kapoor). Rest of the story is how Abhimanyu compromises Trophy for Rohan and two becomes good buddies again but after 10 years.
Star Performances - the best part of the film is awesome performance of all the 3 leading actors. Varun, Sidharth and Alia has done full justice to their role and its quite mood refreshing watching new faces than usual Khan's, Kapoor's & ChopraS.
Music - Radha and Disco Deewane are awesome tracks in the film. The over all music is also nice but somehow film becomes Musical romance because of too many songs.
Final Verdict - No doubt the film is entertaining but it has lot of common elements from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kal Ho Na Ho and all typical Karan Johar's Masala. Some funny scenes and dialogues, performances and music makes film a worth watch but their is no 'Wow' factor or nothing new from Director's side. The screenplay could have been more interesting. Over all film is entertaining but now its hightime to expect something different from Karan Johar.
Watch it or not - If you expecting Wow factor, just forget it don't go for it. But if you are not bother of spending money you can watch it, its full Masala entertaining film. At least to appreciate the new faces in the film, you should definitely watch it
